Products I've Been Loving Lately

Hey there W+A readers! Monday is here and its a bit of a gloomy, chilly day out on the Island. Dinner is already made for tonight and will only take a few minutes of heating up, plating and serving. I love having meals prepared over the weekend for week night dinners—it makes life that much more easy. Breakfast was some steel cut oats with blueberries and lunch, a few turkey roll ups and a handful yucca chips. Mid-afternoon snack was watermelon and lots of water all day long! I figured I'd share with my dear readers a roundup of some products and foods I've been obsessing over lately. Here it goes... With the warmer weather approaching I've been really trying to ramp up my water intake. My mom found this perfectly sized water bottle from the Christmas Tree Shop, but if you can't find them there you can also order directly from their website: www.coolgearinc.com The water bottle holds 80 ounces of water and comes in four fun colors. The company has a ton of cu

Sunday Food Prep

Its always extra hard to sign off from the weekend after it being a great one! Saturday, John and I headed into the city to catch the Islanders playoff game at a pub on the UES. I used to live fairly close to this pub a few years ago and was a frequent visitor, so I remembered they were one of the few who always showed the Islanders games on their big screens. We had such a blast hanging with fellow fans, ordering some drinks and enjoying the gorgeous day in the city. It was a big win and we were pretty excited about it. I will admit, before meeting John I wasn't too knowledgeable when it came to hockey, but I will say its become so damn exciting to watch. After our big defeat, we headed to Angus Club Steakhouse in Midtown East for some dinner. I had been contacted and asked to review the year old steakhouse and it was such a wonderful experience. Here's a few snaps of some of our tasty indulgences from last night (review to come at Examiner.com). Cosmopolitan martini to

Slow Cooked Korean Short Ribs

Happy Wednesday W+A readers! The week is half way through and despite the rain these past few days its actually a gorgeous day out. Today I worked from our Manhattan office, which was a nice change of pace. I love being able to escape the walls of the house for a bit, especially if its to head into the city. This past weekend we spent some time in DC which was a real treat. We stayed with some friends who showed us a great time out on the town. While John and I had some free time, we took a long stroll into the city and saw some gorgeous monuments and sights. I have to say, DC is one impressive place. Our friends' apartment had a gorgeous rooftop view of the Capital and the Lincoln Memorial—we just couldn't get enough. DC is extremely uniformed and impressively clean. We loved every minute of our exploring. All of the gorgeous flowers and trees were in bloom and everyone was out enjoying the beautiful weather. Look how gorgeous the fields of tulips were and more importantly, th

Chicken Sausage With Escarole & Beans

The warm weather was back at it today. Although the sun barely showed its face it was still super warm and in the 60s. I figured it'd be a the perfect day to start my summertime tradition of iced green tea so I headed to Starbucks and got in my fix. I always order a grande in a venti cup with extra ice so it stays extra cold :) And look at that, they got my name correct too!   For dinner I had planned to make a recipe I recently found for eggplant lasagna, but we waited too long to use our eggplant we bought last week and it went bad. Poor eggplant. I ended up picking up another one and will probably make that for tomorrow's dinner instead. We decided to take out some chicken sausage that we bought this past weekend from our butcher. One ring was stuffed with parsley and cheese and the other he gave us a small portion to try was infused with Merlot. Holy yum. I started cooking some escarole and beans to add to our sausage which we had planned to toss on the grill since i

John Turns 30 + Truffle Burgers

Good afternoon W+A readers. Its a gorgeous sunny day outside and I hope you all are enjoying it. Today is John's big 30th birthday, so we got up early grabbed some Starbucks coffee as a treat and ran errands for most of the afternoon. Tonight I am taking him out for a yummy dinner and I can't wait! :) Today marks 21 days since I started my 21 day fix and I am excited to report I am down over 5 pounds! Even with the holiday falling during the fix, I stayed on track and consecutively lost weight each week, yay! I plan to do another round of 3 weeks starting tomorrow. So 21 day fix round two here I come! Its been such a great feeling to lose the weight and inches I've wanted and get on a healthy track for the spring and summer, and I plan to continue the habits I've picked up these past 3 weeks. I ordered another round of Shakeology packets. They have really been an anchor with helping stay on plan and I am excited to keep on incorporating them into my daily meals. This we

Tuesday Catch Up

Good evening W+A readers! We've been a little MIA and I apologize, but sometimes life just gets in the way ;) Tonight I made a chicken, mushroom and artichoke dish, which was super simple and 21 day fix friendly. Speaking of the 21 day fix I have managed to still be down another 6 ounces even with the holiday weekend, but its game on for this week. No holidays or extra indulgences to get in the way and I definitely am ready to make my final week a great one. I plan to keep going on the program because its more of a lifestyle change than a fad diet. I've picked up a lot of wonderful habits in these past two weeks and I feel really good about continuing them. John is home this week so we've been making sure to really get in some satisfying breakfasts and lunches. This morning was scrambled eggs and turkey bacon and for lunch yesterday John made us a yummy tuna salad with all the fixings. He loaded it up with lettuce, olives, cannellini beans, celery, red onion, some feta an
