W+A Weekend Finds

Mondays are always better coming off of a fulfilling weekend, and today we are featuring some of our favorite finds the we've been loving lately. From products, TV shows, restaurants and maybe even a little bit of home decor, we've got you covered. Check out some of our favorites finds + picks below. Make sure to share your favorite finds in the comments below too! The Quadruple Almond Butter Cookies from TJ's are a must-try. We frequent Trader Joe's  weekly and while lots of their cookies and desserts are SO good, sometimes they aren't always the healthiest choice. These cookies are worth it and are pretty low in calories + fat. They also own up to everything they say they are: buttery and rich with the perfect crunch. Make sure to snag these on your next TJ's haul. Another one from good ol' Trader Joe's is this Shea Butter + Coconut Oil Hair Mask. I have to say we've been loving TJ's personal care products lately and this hair mask ...

1-2-3 Ingredient Pumpkin Chocolate Chunk Mini Muffins

Falls here, which means all of the best seasonal staples are back. I admit, I look forward to pumpkin spice everything, but I truly do enjoy the flavor of pumpkin. Its a healthy substitute when baking and cooking. While browsing through all of the pumpkin products in Trader Joe's I decided to make some low calorie, gluten free pumpkin muffins. All you'll need are these three easy ingredients and some will power not to lick the bowl clean. Ingredients 1 can of organic pumpkin (make sure not to use pumpkin pie filling)  4 tbsp of semi sweet chocolate chunks or chips  1 box of pumpkin muffin mix or carrot cake mix  1/2 c of water  Directions Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line your mini muffin pan with mini muffin liners. In a bowl, mix together the entire box of cake mix, 1 can of pumpkin and add your 1/2 cup of water as you are mixing. The batter should be light and airy as you blend. Start mixing in your chocolate chunks 1 tablespoon at a time...

Just Mangia: Enjoy the Best Local Food in Your Neighborhood

When Owen from Just Mangia reached out to us about having our very own pot of Maroni's famous meatballs delivered to our door, we were beyond ecstatic! Just Mangia has partnered up with local restaurants on Long Island (currently Northport and expanding to markets near by) to deliver fresh and delicious food right to your front door. Some of the restaurants that work with the company do not offer their own delivery service and that's where Just Mangia steps in. Search the online menus of your favorite local eateries and order right from their website or app. Once your order has been picked up, your own personal courier will shoot you a text with a real time tracking link. You'll be able to see how far or close your food is to being delivered. We were lucky enough to have Maroni's very own meatballs and sauce delivered right to our house on Sunday morning. The pot arrived right on time along with instructions on how to reheat the meatballs and sauce. We w...

Baking Season Is Upon Us

Hey there W+A readers. Sunday night sneaked up so quickly and Christmas will be upon on us next weekend. We've had our decorations up for a few weeks now and John wrapped all of our presents. I contributed by adding some bows. I'm not big on the wrapping and he seems to enjoy it, so why not let him run with it! This week I did a lot of baking. From cheddar egg muffins to oatmeal coconut dark chocolate "cookies" and tonight I made some healthy pumpkin white chocolate brownies. I've really been trying to use what I have in my kitchen and have started adding to my baking ingredients collection. I stocked up on some chocolate morsels, cinnamon, canned pumpkin, coconut flakes, nuts and some other necessities from the baking aisle. Since it is baking season, I figured I'd try my hand at baking some more, especially guiltless treats that John and I can snack on during the week. Last Monday I prepared some healthy egg muffins. They take no time to prepare and made o...

Skinny Pumpkin Carrot Dark Chocolate Muffins

The mid-week hump is here and I was in the mood to get baking early this morning to kick off baking season. I love having healthy sweets in the house, but its tricky to find so called "healthy" treats at the grocery store that aren't loaded with processed ingredients. I don't enjoy baking as much as I do cooking, but these muffins are so simple to whip together and are only around 125 calories each! They are delicious with your morning cup of coffee, a mid-day snack or an after dinner treat. Here is what you will need: -1 package of spice cake or carrot cake mix -1 can of 100% pure pumpkin -4-5 tablespoons of dark chocolate chips (feel free to add nuts, too) -1 cup of water  Preheat your oven on bake to 350 degrees. Line your muffin tins with baking cups. Mix together the entire box of cake mix, 1 can of pumpkin, 1 cup of water and 5 tablespoons of dark chocolate chips. Pour about 3-4 tablespoons of your mixture into each baking cup and bake for 20-25 minu...

ThankFULL Turkey Day

Happy post Thanksgiving lovely readers! I hope you all had an enjoyable turkey day filled with family, food and lots of relaxing. Our Thanksgiving was perfect. We spent the day at my parent's hanging with family, eating our favorite foods (all made by Mama P. herself) and watching the football games. There are so many tasty sides that accompany Thanksgiving Day turkey and my favorite is my mom's homemade stuffing (sausage and all). It's originally my grandmother's recipe and my mom nailed it. Some other favorite sides are stuffed mushrooms, sweet potato casserole and mom's homemade cranberry sauce. Mmm MM mmm. John and I contributed to the day's meal with a baked brie filled with honey, apricot preserve, slivered almonds and brown sugar (it was a hit!) and John whipped up a round of our favorite hot toddies. This year we found Apple Pie whiskey that made this warm indulgence the perfect sweet treat beverage. I think we got everyone a little tipsy by the end...

Cozy Weekend Finds

Happy almost Monday, readers. This weekend flew by way too fast, but only a few more days until Halloween! We are heading to our friends house for a Halloween party and I am pretty excited for us to dress up. John and I have never done a couple's costume before, and I think we nailed this Halloween's ;) We spent most of the weekend picking up some new home goods and headed into the city to review a new restaurant that opened on the Upper West Side called Tessa . It was absolutely delicious! I figured I'd rock some fall stripes, overalls and a red lip. This is definitely one of my favorite seasons for fashion and makeup. Sweaters, scarves long sleeves, boots and makeup shades in reds, berries, browns, wines, and every other rich, deep shade! I haven't gotten my hair done in months, but I am kinda feeling this color that evolved on its own. Sort of ombre-esque. We headed to the outlets and hit up West Elm, William Sonoma and Pottery Barn. We weren't looking for...

What I'm Loving Lately

Happy mid-week to you, readers! We are so close to the weekend and with the short week its been flying by. Our Labor Day weekend was a great one with some plans here and there and still lots of time for some relaxation. John and I typically have a packed calendar, so we love to savor any one-on-one time we can get in on the weekends—catching up on Netflix, cooking a new dish or cocktail and running errands for the week.  My company gave us off on Friday (what a treat!) so I decided to head to the beach and enjoy some me time with new magazine and some iced coffee. This little guy wasn't too amused that I didn't have any tasty snacks to share. It was a bit breezy at first, but as soon as noon hit the sun was shining and the weather turned out to be perfect. Since we've been back from Italy and Greece over a month now, John has been big on throwing together these Greek-inspired cucumber salads. They call for olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta and red onion. He typica...

Welcome September

Hello, hello W+A readers! Its been about a month since I've written yous and I apologize for the hiatus. We were away on our European honeymoon for most of August and have been getting back into our daily routines ever since. John started back up at work this week and I have been getting back into the swing of things not only during the busiest season at work, but in the kitchen too. After eating out for 15 days straight while on vacation, we had to hop back on the cooking wagon...and that we did. I've been prepping meals for the week because its a lot easier to scoop something out of the fridge and heat it up when were hungry. I guess you can say I am pretty happy fall is approaching, since that means slow cooker meals, big pots of homemade soups and hearty fulfilling dinners. This week I made a crock pot of five bean spicy chili and some slow cooker stuffed peppers. I love preparing these two meals because they are always way better the next day. I finished up the last of t...
